The Challenge

FairPrice was launching its new own-brand Coconut White Coffee, made with real coconut milk for a smooth and creamy coffee experience with a tropical twist. To raise awareness of the new product, FairPrice wanted to create an engaging in-store activation that went beyond traditional product sampling.

The activation would travel across selected FairPrice Xtra outlets, giving shoppers at different locations an opportunity to discover and try the new flavour. The campaign ran from 4 to 26 July 2026, with the activation appearing at participating stores from 10am to 6pm.

FairPrice needed an experience that could:

  • Attract shoppers’ attention inside the supermarket
  • Create awareness of the new Coconut White Coffee
  • Encourage shoppers to try the product
  • Provide an activity that was quick and easy to participate in
  • Reward participants and top performers
  • Move between multiple retail outlets
  • Complement the product sampling station

The challenge was to turn a product launch and sampling activity into a memorable retail experience that created surprise, excitement and curiosity among shoppers.

The Solution

To achieve this, FairPrice used the qiksense platform and opted for a customised shout activation.

The experience invited shoppers to shout “COCOOONUTTTTT” for as long as they could, turning the new product name into the main interaction of the campaign. Participants competed to record the highest score and secure a position on the daily leaderboard.

Retrieve Module: Participant Name

Before beginning the challenge, participants entered their name through the qiksense experience.

This allowed each participant’s score to be recorded under their name and displayed accurately on the leaderboard.

Engage Module: Voice Marathon Game

After entering their name, participants started the experience and shouted for as long as they could.

The activity followed a simple journey:

  • Enter a participant name
  • Start the challenge
  • Shout “COCOOONUTTTTT”
  • Continue for as long as possible
  • Stop shouting to end the game
  • View the recorded score

The sound-based mechanic created a highly visible and energetic activity inside the supermarket, helping the product launch stand out within the retail environment.

Reward Module: Score and Leaderboard

When participants stopped shouting, their final score was displayed and recorded on the leaderboard.

This allowed shoppers to immediately see how they performed and compare their results with other participants. The daily leaderboard also encouraged friendly competition as shoppers attempted to beat the leading score.

FairPrice provided instant rewards for participation, while shoppers who achieved the high score could win the top campaign reward.

Combining Interaction with Product Sampling

A Coconut White Coffee sampling station was positioned alongside the shout activation, allowing shoppers to taste the new product after participating.

By combining an interactive challenge with product sampling, FairPrice created a complete product discovery journey. Shoppers could notice the activation, participate in the challenge, try the coffee and learn more about the newly launched flavour within the same retail space.

The Result

Using qiksense, FairPrice transformed a traditional supermarket sampling activity into an interactive product launch experience that attracted attention and encouraged shoppers to participate, compete and discover the new Coconut White Coffee.

A More Memorable Product Launch

The shout activation brought excitement and visibility to the campaign, helping FairPrice introduce the new flavour through an experience that was directly connected to the product name.

The unusual mechanic also encouraged social interaction in stores, with shoppers bringing friends and family members to participate and compete against one another.

Interactive Engagement Across Retail Outlets

Because the activation could move between selected FairPrice Xtra outlets, the campaign reached shoppers across multiple retail locations while maintaining the same experience and leaderboard mechanic.

Together with product sampling and instant rewards, the qiksense-powered activation helped turn an everyday supermarket visit into a fun and engaging product discovery experience.
